Kimball Library News 3/31/14

The last week of April will be the start of the spring vacation week activities which runs into the month of May.  This is our ongoing saga.  Read on!

First out of the gate on Monday, April 28, at 10:15am will be the usual ‘Mother Goose on the Loose class’ for babies through age 2.   Infants through age 2 may join this class at any time in their development.  This is a great chance for your toddlers to even have a little play date after class.  Talk to Kathy Watson for more information on the particulars if you are interested in participating.

We are also having two other ‘special’ vacation events on Monday the 28th.  Beginning at 1pm, we are having ‘Birdhouse Mania’ for an hour which will be a limited seating class for youth in the grade one to six range.  We have sweet wooden structures that need a personal loving touch.  Prepare to get messy with paint.  Register in advance and dress accordingly.

Our third Monday event is ‘Kente Paper Weaving’ for grades K-5 from 6:30-7:30pm.  Come make a colorful symbol of African culture. The beautiful Kente cloth is worn by many people around the world. Grades K-5 are invited to make a paper mat using Kente design by registering in advance. It's fun for the family, so bring a mom, dad or even grandma or grandpa to weave along with you.

We have a totally despicable Tuesday planned (April 29) and it starts off with ‘Nerdy Nummies’ for children age 2 through grade 5. Making minion cupcakes are part of the fun, a mini minion movie will be shown, and there just might be a despicable game.  We have two time slots to accommodate more children.  Please choose either 10:15am or 11:30am and register your children.

ALSO, on Tuesday the 29th we have ‘Despicable T/weens Open Mike Night’ for ages 10-19 starting at 6:30pm.  Why let the ‘little kids’ have all the fun?  It’s going to be a DESPICABLE event.  Making minion cupcakes (nerdy nummies!) are part of the fun and then it will be ‘DESPICABLE OPEN MIKE NIGHT’ starting at 7pm.  All tacky talents must be 5 minutes or less.  Despicable cheap and worthless prizes will be awarded.  Do you DARE to register?  Get your friends ages 10 and up to register with you.  You still don’t get it? THINK ‘Despicable Talentless Show’.

 **Please respect our age restrictions**

RULES FOR DESPICABLE OPEN MIKE
1. Acts should be original AND rated PG or under.
2. Acts should be 5 minutes or less
3. FUN only – no haters

‘IT’S SO FLUFFY, I’M GONNA DIE!’

Still don’t get it?  Talk to Kathy Watson, Youth Services Director.

We want to be as friendly and welcoming at possible, but for any library events that require registration we respectfully request that non-residents refrain from signing up until 24 hours in advance of the event start.   This gives the residents of the town to take a seat if they’d like.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Please check out our facebook page, please ‘like’, tag, and share our photos or events.  It’s also terrific when you upload photos of your own to our page when you participate in our events or classes.  We love the positive press from social networking!  If you haven’t already, do visit us at www.facebook.com/KimballLibrary.Atkinson.NH and peruse our many albums and see if you can find yourself or family members.
