Kimball Library News 4/21/14

Come join us for a spectacular event with author Natasha Lowe!  She will be joining us for a book discussion with grades 3-8 about her book, "The Power of Poppy Pendle."  To be part of this discussion is as simple as asking us for a copy of the book at the main desk.  Registration is required, and you may sign your child up online or ask us to do that for you.  Copies are available now.

Take a peek into the magical world of Poppy.  "Ten-year-old Poppy, born to ordinary parents, has inherited coveted witch power. In Poppy's world, witches work for good and are much valued, but Poppy does not want to be a witch—she wants to be a baker, and she is extremely good at baking. Her parents insist Poppy follow in the footsteps of her great aunt, a famous witch, but Poppy has plans of her own."   We guarantee that this book will make you 'hungry' for more.  :)

Natasha Lowe was born and raised in London, England and developed her love of imagination, good books and tea at a young age.  She came to America and ran a bed and breakfast, offering guests some of her fantastic family recipes.  (Some of these tasty recipes are in the back of ''The Power of Poppy Pendle!'') Mrs. Lowe will even be bringing some cookies with her on her visit to Kimball Library.

She currently lives in Deerfield, MA with her husband, her four children and a stone goose with some magical qualities.   Natasha Lowe will be joining us for some thrilling discussion on Thursday, June 5, at 6:30pm with cookies and signed copies of her novel "The Power of Poppy Pendle" at a discounted author's price.

Excited to use a museum pass program but forgot to reserve it until the day of? Your local library's pass is already out, what can you do?  Don't fret – starting April 21, Atkinson, Plaistow and Sandown will be offering their passes to card holders in the other libraries in the Southern NH Cooperative (Atkinson, Plaistow, Sandown).  If you want to borrow a pass that does not belong to your local library, you can check these other libraries' websites for their available passes.  On the day of use, the pass may be picked up starting at 10:00am at that library. It's as simple as that!
