Kimball Library News 10/27/14

TWEENS & TEENS READ: During the month of November, the tweens (grades 6-8) will gather to discuss ‘Counting by 7s’ by Holly Goldberg on the 5th, and teens (grades 9-12) will discuss ‘Will Grayson, Will Grayson’ by John Green.  Encourage your teens to join us even if they haven’t read the book so they can be part of the connection questions and get the book for December.

HOGWARTS ACADEMY: The Kimball Library, The Atkinson Recreation Department, and Atkinson Academy are working together to give your children a ‘different’ kind of education on Saturday, November 15th, at 10:30am.

The Hogwarts Academy Training is a fully interactive performance which prepares the participants for their entrance into Hogwarts. Professor Jungle-Flick (Jungle Jim of Boston), of the American School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, leads the children through a series of activities designed to show them the rigors of becoming official magical conjurers. This performance combines audience interaction along with balloon magic with a specific goal: that the children complete the quests presented to them, and then are ready for the next level of their wizard training.

The professor uses over a dozen volunteers in this performance so get your camera ready.  You’ll be catching some great shots of you or your kids having the best time of their lives!

This family show is developmentally geared for ages 4-12, but all ages are welcome to participate.  Fun is for everyone!  Your children do not need to be well-acquainted with Harry Potter to enjoy this event.  We need all ages to register at Kimball Library (via website or on the phone).  Adults can just use the word 'adult' so we can have an accurate head count.  PLEASE PRINT A TICKET TO GAIN ADMITTANCE.  This is a new feature that we are using to keep count.

This amazing event is being held on Saturday, November 15, at 10:30am at The Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main Street, Atkinson, NH and is being generously sponsored by the Atkinson Recreation Department.  “GIVE BACK” and bring non-perishable food items and canned goods to benefit local food pantries.

Please dress in wizard garb to get into the spirit of things!  A few prizes will be awarded for the most 'wizard-like' in several age categories.

Residents have preference for this event.  We respectfully request that non-resident guests and friends wait until Friday, November 14th, to put your name in the queue.

LIBRARY CLOSED: The library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th, in honor of Veterans’ Day.  Please stock up accordingly.
