THE
TEENS HAVE VOTED: The teens have voted with their presence that Anime Club is
here to stay. Join us on Thursday,
December 18, from 6-7:30pm where we will be watching anime, playing anime twister,
making new friends, and enjoying some snacks.
Feel free to bring sketch books to draw or read manga while we
watch. We will be watching anime with
ratings equivalent to PG-13. Register grades 6-12 and non-resident teens are
welcome.
INTERESTED
IN LEARNING MAH JONG?: Mah Jong is on Mondays from 1:00-4:30pm. We have experienced players enjoying it each
week, but once again we are signing up new players. Newbies are welcome-we’ll
teach you!
Mah
Jong is a fun rummy-like game played with tiles rather than cards. We will play American Mah Jong and will be
following the rules for American Mah Jong.
One of the main differences is that American Mah Jong uses a card of
Standard Hands, against which all games are played. These cards are distributed by the National
Maj Jong League and changed annually. We will have these cards on hand for all
to use.
This
game has brought people in the community together for a fun-filled afternoon
and so we are offering to teach again to anyone who wants to learn. It does require some strategy as well as
some luck to play. A small amount of
time and effort is needed to become familiar with the principles of the game
and the rules of the game. Registration
is required so we’ll know how many tables to prepare. Please sign up online or give us a call.
MEET
Plaistow YMCA DIRECTOR: Tracy Fuller, Regional Executive Director, will be here
to listen from the community what they would like at their YMCA on Thursday,
November 20th, at 6:30pm. Come and learn about all the current services
the YMCA offers and what new exciting events are planned. Light healthy snacks will be provided. All residents from the Atkinson area are
invited to this free event.
A
FEW OPENINGS: Make letters with your
bodies, learn some alphabet sign language, run and jump to rhyming words, and
dance, dance, DANCE! Learn to WIGGLE
into WORDS. We have two spaces left for
Thursday, November 20th, at 10:30am.
This fun activity is for ages 3-6 and your child must be registered in
order to participate.
HOLIDAY
CLOSING: Please note that we are closed on both Thursday, November 27 and
Friday, November 28 for a Thanksgiving hiatus.
We are open on Saturday the 29th. Have a happy Thanksgiving! We know that we are especially thankful for
