Kimball Library News 11/2/15

MAKE A THANKSGIVING GAME:  Preschool and elementary children of all ages (with help) can make a mock ‘birch bark ball and triangle’.  This is a unique design, based on a traditional toy used by the Penobscot Native American children. It was made from a stiff piece of birch bark in the shape of a triangle, with a hole in the center. One corner has a string, and a ball is attached to the other end of the string. Come and make one with us! Please register your child and a friend for this program.  Registered non-resident guests are welcome.

RESCHEDULED SKYWATCH WITH NH ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY:  The New Hampshire Astronomical Society will be offering their telescopes for an evening's observing of celestial wonders on Tuesday, November 17th, from 6:30-8:00pm.  There will be a brief indoor presentation explaining details concerning the sorts of celestial objects we will be looking at first-hand, through the telescopes.  The viewing area will be in the Kimball Library Courtyard. This event was originally to be held in October, but the sky was not optimal for viewing.  Pray/cross-fingers for a clear night!

NH DOWNLOADABLE BOOKS: Many of you realize we have electronic books and audiobooks that you can download right off our website after tapping into the ‘downloadable books’ icon and signing in with your library card.  You may think “I don’t have time to read books!  I’m far too busy.”  You may not know that there also is a wide array of electronic magazines that you can choose from that are far less time consuming and will save you the expense of a yearly subscription.  Check them out—literally!  They will show up on the front page after you sign in.  Happy reading!

HOLIDAY HOURS: Please note that we are closed on both Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for a Thanksgiving hiatus.  We are open on Saturday the 28th.  Have a happy Thanksgiving!  We know that we are especially thankful for all our wonderful patrons!
