Kimball Library News 11/9/15

TUMBLEBOOKS: TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love.  They are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sounds, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book (and some classics) which you can read, or have read to you. The language drop-down menu allows you to view the site in French and Spanish, instead of English.

Did you know that we have this valuable resource right on our website for free?  Just go to and look for the TumbleBook icon in the top right portion of the page.  Click on it and you will be ready to read and listen!  Most children are assigned reading on a nightly basis, and this is a new way to engage your child.  Also, teens and adults can brush up on their foreign language studies by using the Spanish and French options.  Happy Tumbling!

TIS THE SEASON: Back again by popular demand, Kimball Library once again will be hosting three Saturdays in a row of our entertaining and educational ‘Holiday Drop ‘n Shop’.  Mark your calendar now for the following dates and times so you can register your children for December 5, 12, and 19 from 10:30am-12:30pm.  We are definitely “Santa’s Elves” for your **kids ages 6 and up.  We’ll occupy them with fun activities while you shop or wrap gifts.  Each Saturday will host a different teacher and unique projects.  Please send them with simple snacks and spill-proof beverages.  You’ll fa la la la la all the way home!

**All 'Drop 'n Shop' participants must be at least 6 years of age to be left in the building without an adult.  Ages 6-9 must have an adult fill out a waiver on that morning to be left here in our care.  Children under 6 must be supervised by the attending caretaker.  Children ages 10 and up are allowed to stay without an adult or waiver according to library policy.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Register soon, please, for this very popular event so we can have the necessary supplies.

HOLIDAY HOURS: Please note that we are closed on both Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for a Thanksgiving hiatus.  We are open on Saturday the 28th.  Have a happy Thanksgiving!  We know that we are especially thankful for all our wonderful patrons!

MORE INFO: Our event calendar found on our website has detailed information on these events and many others you may have missed reading about.  Go to and not only read the posts on the page, but also click the calendar icon and see each event for the month and months to come.  Please also ‘like’ us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.  You may call us Monday-Friday from 10-8 and on Saturday from 10-3 at 603.362.5234.
