Kimball Library News 1/25/16

EVEREST IN 3D: Join us for an afternoon 3D showing of ‘Everest’ on Tuesday, February 2nd, from 1:00-3:15pm.  (Rated: PG-13.  Run time: 2 hours)

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, the film documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

ROBOTICS: Due the large interest, we’re repeating the STEM (Robotics) class with the Sylvan Center on Tuesday, February 9, at 6:30pm.  There are two seats left at the time of this writing.  In a one hour class we will build, code and animate one demonstration robot.  We can take up to 12 children and they will work in pairs.  This workshop is slated for youth in grades 2 through 6.  Because of the demand for seats, this event is registration only for Atkinson residents. Sign up ASAP.

VALENTINE TREAT MAKING: Join in the fun as we make Valentine treats to share! We'll be busy creating and decorating goodies for loved ones. It's a perfect time to let people know how much you care.  Registration is required (grades K-5) for this yummy activity on Saturday, February 13th, from 10:30-11:30am in the Children’s Room.  Seating is limited so act quickly.

MOTHER GOOSE DROP-IN: Infants through age 2 with their caregivers are invited to join us on Thursday, February 18th for simple stories, rhymes, finger plays, and songs.  Stay after the session to allow for playtime and socializing for all ages.  ANYONE may drop in for this session.  It's a bonus class because there were no registered sessions on Monday.
