Kimball Library News 11/27/17

You have asked, and we have answered.  For those of you who like to get reminders about your library items coming due soon, your holds, overdue items, or items checked in or out, we have a new perk for you.  Not only can you get all those reminders via email per usual, you can also get them via text message just for the asking.  Just let us know the next time you're in, (or you can give us a call), and we'll activate your account to receive any or all of the above notifications via text.  We're excited to bring this service to you.

GET DESPICABLE WITH US: Get your family out of the house on Thursday, December 28th at 3pm after naptime and enjoy the newest edition to the 'Despicable Me' film series. Snack will be provided to be enjoyed with a movie featuring the talented voice of Steve Carell and the hilarious antics of Stuart, Bob, Kevin, and all the minions.

Young children are encouraged to bring a blanket or pillow to make their viewing experience more enjoyable. Chairs will be provided for adults. Stay warm with us, snuggle up with your friends and family, and join us for this great feature:

After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest bad guy to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis. But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost twin brother-a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin's despicable footsteps-one former super-villain will rediscover just how good it feels to be bad.

HOLIDAY TUESDAY FILMS: To keep you in the ’feel good’ seasonal mood, we’ll be showing some films in December on Tuesday afternoons at 1pm.  On December 5th, ‘Lovely, Still’ and on December 12th, ‘Love Actually’ will be shown.  Also in the queue on December 19th we'll be showing 'Joyeux Noel' which tells the true-life story of the spontaneous Christmas Eve truce declared by Scottish, French, and German troops in the trenches of World War I.

These might not be your typical holiday classics, but they will warm your heart.  We’ll do our part by providing free popcorn and comfy chairs for early arrivals.  Stock up on your feel good holiday mood by dropping by.  Registration for these movies is not required.  (Please also note that titles are subject to change and comfy chairs are limited.)

HOLIDAY HOURS: The library will be closed on Monday, December 25th, for Christmas, and on Monday, January 1st, for New Year’s Day.  Please also take note that regularly scheduled preschool programs such as Mother Goose on the Loose, Bitty Books, Discovering S.T.E.A.M, and Kiddie Lit will be on holiday break the last week of December.  Classes will resume their normal schedule starting back in January of 2018.  We wish you all a peaceful and wonderful holiday season!
