Kimball Library News 12/18/17

Start the New Year right by building up those brain cells!

STEM BUILDING: Join us for some time building and exploring with our STEM building toys. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are increasingly a focus in schools and careers. Build your STEM brain power with our brain flakes, marble runs, magnetic tiles, or a combination of the three available for free play.

All ages are welcome but children under 4 MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Our marbles do pose a choking hazard so we thank you for your attention to the youngest builders!
Registration is not required. Come by anytime between 11am and 2pm on Thursday, January 4th.

NOT NEW, BUT MAYBE NEW TO YOU: Have you ever heard of ‘The Jack Frost Jamboree’? We are celebrating our 8th consecutive year of hosting this treasured tradition, and whether you have come in the past or never before, you will not want to miss out!

We have lots of fun activities planned!  Join us for some snappy winter fun on Saturday, January 20th, between 10:30 and 2:30. Think ‘winter carnival’ with a twist.  PS. Cross fingers for SNOW.  :)
Take a look at some of what we are offering: miniature golf course, face painting (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM), crafts, games (the more you play, the more prizes you win!), hot dogs, popcorn, and hot chocolate, snowshoeing (weather permitting), roasting marshmallows (weather permitting) and other surprises!
All of this and more offered FREE to you and sponsored by the generous, awesome Friends of the Library.  (Please note that some of these activities are subject to change.)

JACK FROST JAMBOREE TEEN VOLUNTEERS: Teenagers, we need you!
This is a great opportunity for teens to earn those community services hours. You will be running games or other random tasks at our winter carnival. You must register and contact kwatson@kimballlibrary.com so she has all your pertinent information. Enthusiastic and responsible teens only, please. Parents may not apply on behalf of the youth.  Thank you.
*Please bring a bag lunch if you are staying the entire day even though teens are welcome to the food we are serving at this wicked cool event.

MOVIES, BOOK DISCUSSIONS, & MORE: Adults, did you know that we have nearly weekly films at 1pm, monthly book groups, Mah Jong Mondays, those who knit or crochet on Wednesdays, and so much more?

Take time to come talk to us and find a new group. Make a New Year’s resolution to develop YOU!  Learn a new skill or brush up on an old one.  We have something for everyone.
