HOT SPOTS: They are hot! They are Hotspots! You may not know that we currently own two that are available for lending.  The Wi-Fi Hotspot is about the size of a deck of cards and can link up to 15 devices to the internet at the same time. The Wi-Fi Hotspot is portable and simple to use.
The Hotspot connects to T-Mobile’s cellular network. By connecting your phone, tablet, or other wireless-enabled device to it, you can get online anywhere within T-Mobile’s coverage area – try it at home, or wherever you’re going!

The Hotspot may be borrowed only by Kimball Library cardholders in good standing.  The Hotspot may be borrowed for a 1-week period. Overdue fines are $5 per day.  The borrower is responsible for any loss or damage to the Hotspot. Replacement costs is $100. The charging components are $20.

If you are curious, you should try them out at home so you can be prepared the next time you go on vacation or lose your internet connection. Your kids will LOVE that they can use their iPads, Chromebooks, and other gadgets even when traveling in car. Come on by and tech it out!

HOOPLA: Hoopla is a digital media service offered by your Kimball Library that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even on your TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. They have hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily. With a current library card in good standing, you can get four free downloads a month.  No waiting in line, no holds.

You can stream titles instantly through your desktop browser or our mobile app. If you use the mobile app, you can also download titles to your device for offline playback later, where Wi-Fi may be unavailable. Titles are automatically returned and removed from your device at the end of the lending period.  What are you waiting for?  Download the app or jump on your computer and get your free account started today!

LIBBY APP: Meet Libby. Did you know your local library has thousands of ebooks and audiobooks? You can borrow them, instantly, for free, using just the device in your hand.

1. Fish out your library card 2. Open the Libby app 3. Search for Kimball Library (using the zip code is easy!) 4. Search, sample, borrow, enjoy.

It takes just a few taps to find and borrow a book. Libby has a built-in ebook reader, and an audiobook player. If you prefer, you can send books to your Kindle for reading.

You can stay signed in for as long as you like, download books and audiobooks for offline reading, or stream them to save space. All your holds and loans are consolidated on a single shelf. Your loans, holds, reading positions, bookmarks and notes are synchronized automatically across all your devices.

Libby is the newest app from OverDrive Labs. They are trying to simplify and bring joy to every aspect of digital borrowing and reading. If you love it, you can use it instead of the OverDrive app. If you don't love it yet, feel free to keep using the OverDrive app, but check in on Libby from time to time as you might change your mind.  Are you concerned that you won’t know how to use it?  Sign up for tech tutorial!
