Kimball Library News 2/3/2020

It’s hard to fathom but February vacation week in the Timberlane Regional School District is right around the corner!  Got a Stay-Cation planned?  We have something for the youth in your family each day of the week!  Part two coming up!  (If you missed last week, refer to the blog in the last paragraph and you can catch up there.)

MAKE AND TAKE CRAFT: We will have materials available to design and make your very own button, along with other ‘make and take’ crafts, in the Children’s Craft Room between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM available on Wednesday, February 26th.  We are asking you to register children in grades K-5 as that is what the craft is designed for and we also need to know how many materials to gather.  As for the time slot, you can come in any time in the two hour window and stay as little or as long as you like.  Register a neighbor or friend—the more the merrier!

S.T.E.M TOYS: For most any age, but particularly ages 3 and up, we are hosting a 4 hour window with a myriad of STEM toys.  Options MAY include Keva planks, LEGO, Duplo, marble runs, magnetic tiles, or Brain Flakes.  These educational toys are fun for all ages.  Challenges are available as well as the freedom to do your own thing.  Children under the age of 3 must be closely supervised by an adult caregiver.  This window of wonder is on Thursday, February 27th between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Please register and come when you can and leave when you must.

EDIBLE CRAFT DAY: Grades kindergarten through grade five are welcome to register and join us as we prepare and eat crafts!  Turning food into art before eating is fun for all.  Sign up the kids for Thursday, February 27th, at 4:00 PM.  Think of it as a brain exercise and appetizer before the evening meal.

CHILL OUT AND PAINT: Come paint with us on Friday Feb 28th from 2:30-4:40pm. We'll be painting our masterpieces and watching a few classic tutorials while we work. Everyone can follow along or go their own way. Come for the full two hours or drop in for a minute to paint some happy clouds. All levels and abilities welcome. As a wise man once said, “Anyone can paint!” Please register in advance. Paints, brushes, and canvas will be provided.

HEALTHY COOKBOOK CLUB: Not for children, but for teens and adults is the February cookbook club. Do you enjoy cooking and trying new recipes? If so, why not join our Healthy Cookbook Club that normally meets the 3rd Monday of each month but this month will move to the 4th Monday due to the holiday the week before.

The club chooses a different healthy cookbook to dive into for the month. Members check out a copy of the cookbook and spend time trying out the various recipes at home. When the group gathers the next month, we discuss the health benefits of the various recipes and share opinions of the meals tried. In addition, participants prepare and bring a sample of a recipe from the cookbook to share with the group.
This month we will be cooking and testing out the Best light recipe : a best recipe classic / by the editors of Cook's illustrated. Please register.

HOLIDAY HOURS: We will be CLOSED on February 17, 2020 observing Presidents’ Day. Overdrive Downloadable Books, the Libby App, Kanopy, and Hoopla are open 24/7 with a library card in good standing.

You may also call us Monday-Friday from 10-8 and on Saturday from 10-3 at 603.362.5234 to register with a ‘human’.
