Kimball Library News 1/2/22

Family toy time during vacation week was deemed successful, so we will continue to leave a few choice toys out for the month of January. Safety is our number one priority with having fun as a close second! The Duplos, train table, and kitchen toys will be available.

BREAD IN A BAGYouth in grades 3-5 will be thrilled to know that Mrs. Birr is bringing back some of kitchen antics! Make 2 loaves of bread to take home and bake in your own oven. Have one loaf for dinner tonight and one more loaf for the next day or to share! It's super easy and lots of fun to make.

Registration is required, and class size is limited. This special event is taking place on Saturday, January 29th, at 10:30 AM. All aspiring bakers in grades 3-5 should sign up as soon as possible.

UNIVERSAL CLASS: Do you have any New Year’s resolutions about education?

Access Universal Class on our website. You only need a current Kimball Library card in good standing and an enquiring mind. There are over 500 online class options. Make an account and get started! Happy New Year!

BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB: Pick up the book of the month, read it, and then come chat about it with library friends. Bring your supper or snack in a sack and we'll provide a drink and a treat. This club is meeting on Thursday, January 20th at 6:00 PM.

The book this month is Superfudge by Judy Blume.

The unstoppable Farley Drexel Hatcher - better known as Fudge - is back with more adventures and sidesplitting hijinks. The story is believable, the pace quick and exciting, and the undeniable humor of the characters will leave readers breathless from laughing so much.

Twelve-year-old Peter Hatcher's brother, Fudge, has driven him up the wall since Day One! Now that he's older, Fudge is an even bigger pain; he eats worm brownies, insists on getting a myna bird for a pet, and is constantly singing words he knows how to spell.

Parents: Some Santa spoilers, please be aware.

FELTED SOAP WORKSHOP: Why should kids have all the fun? Pauline Fabiano led a great workshop this summer for kids, and now it’s time for teens and adults to join in this creative craft on Thursday, January 27th at 6:00 PM.

Learn the basics of making felted wool soap (soap and washcloth all-in-one). Felted soap is not only beautiful, but also great for your skin and for the environment. The felted wool creates a nice gentle exfoliant, plus wool is a naturally antimicrobial fiber, so you don’t need to worry about mold or mildew.

In this engaging and creative workshop, participants will be introduced to needle felting and leave with two completed bars of felted soap. Participants will choose from a variety of colorful, local wool roving to create beautiful and unique bars of soap. No two bars are ever identical! Hand-crafted soap, in a variety of scents, will be provided. However, please feel free to bring your own bars if you have a preference.

*Registration is required, and seating is limited. A non-refundable materials fee of $12.00 must be paid at time of registration. Stop in at the library and sign up in person! Registration is not confirmed until payment is received at the Library. *

This program is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Kimball Library.

HOLIDAY HOURS: We will be closed on January 17th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Please plan accordingly.

Overdrive Downloadable Books, Libby, Kanopy, and Hoopla are available 24/7 with a current card in good standing. Use our new Aspen Catalog and you can download and stream once you are logged into your account. Happy reading, listening, and viewing!
