Kimball Library News 1/23/22

Start off Timberlane vacation week right here at the Kimball Library!

TREEHOUSE STEM:  If you could design your own house, what would it look like? Now’s your chance to try! Want to add a room for your friends? Create a separate level! Steps and stairs too boring? Make a slide! We will be using common household items to create our designs. Miss Katie will show you how to make a basic design, but the rest is up to you! Your only limitation is your own imagination!

Register grades two through five for Monday, February 28th, at 3:00 PM. Stay-cation starts at the Library!

BIRD IN A CAGE: Littles ages in pre-kindergarten through grade one are invited to make crafty birdcages with us. It’s always fun to craft with Mrs. Birr who is the queen of paper crafting. Register your children and put us in your date book for Tuesday, March 1st, at 10:30 AM.

BALANCE BIRD STEM: This STEM program is all about BALANCE! Miss Katie will teach you how to make a Balance Bird out of common house hold materials and we’ll even test it out to see what it can balance on! After, we will spend our time testing other balancing equipment. This activity is geared for ages 3-6 and registration is required. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 2nd, at 1:00 PM.

ANIME ANTICS: We're hosting a movie afternoon for all anime and manga fans. Even if you don't know what that means, this is the time to try it out! Bring your bestie and join us as we watch a classic anime movie. We will also have some crafting and snacking options to go through as we watch. How can you go wrong? Sign up ASAP so we can plan all the awesome snacks and crafts. Register ages 10+ for March 2nd, at 4:00 PM.

The movie is ‘Spirited Away’. Rating: PG Runtime: 2hr 5 min

During her family's move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and spirits, and where humans are changed into beasts.

T/WEEN BOOK DISCUSSION: Join the most chill t/weens and chat with us about this book! Copies are available for the asking. We serve candy and the coolest conversation. Register yourself and your friends. This month the club is on March 2nd, at 6:00 PM. Be SUPER COOL and come for Anime and stay for book club!

The book of the month is 'One of us is Lying' by Karen McManus.

Pay close attention and you might solve this. On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he'd planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who's still on the loose?

Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.
