Kimball Library News 1/30/22

More Timberlane vacation week events at the Kimball Library! Events were listed last week as well. If you missed the article then stop by the Kimball Library Blogspot to read each and every one.

KATIE’S CRAFTERNOON: The rose window is a beautiful circular design used particularly in medieval churches. They use geometric shapes and stained glass to make beautiful works of art, the most famous of which can be seen in the Notre Dame cathedral. In this class, we will be designing and creating our very own out of tissue and construction paper. Hang it in your window and enjoy the dazzling light as it shines through your very own creation!

Register grades 2-6 for Monday, February 28th, at 1:00 PM. Stay-cation starts at the Library!

FAMILY MOVIE: Grab your kids and head down to the Library to watch a beautiful family film.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

Register all ages as seating is limited for Tuesday, March 1st, at 1:00 PM. Children under 10 must have a parent in the building.

KID COLLAGES: Grades K-5 are welcome to join us to craft with Mrs. Birr who is the collage queen. Paste away using cloth, paper, string, pictures from magazines or fun things you may find to stick on your paper. Go home with a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork! Register your children and put us in your date book for Thursday, March 3rd, at 3:30 PM.

BINGO FOR BOOKS: It's time for BINGO! Try your luck and take home our 'gently ' donated books, books, and more books! Kids can join in the fun and parents can help the younger ones who may want to play, too. Register now for a good time and a new book! This activity is geared for all children old enough to sit through a game. Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 3rd, at 6:00 PM.

UNICORN SENSORY STORYTIME: Come for a Unicorn-Tastic time! Similar to our usual Sensory Storytime, Miss Katie will be reading a book and leading a finger play, then we will convene to the barn for some fun unicorn-themed sensory play! The stations will remain open for an hour, so the littles may linger and play as long as they like. Please be advised that we will be monitoring the space, but we have lots of other toys to keep you occupied if you have to wait.

Please register children ages 3-6 for Friday, March 4th, at 11:00 AM to not miss ANY of the fun.

CREATIVE CRAFTING: We’re getting closer and closer to warmer weather, so how can you get into the spring spirit? Decorate your own unicorn flower pot, of course! Miss Katie has all kinds of fun things you can use to accessorize your planter with, so come on in and get creative. We’ll even send you home with your own sunflower seeds to plant in them after the class.

Register youth in grades K-5 for Friday, March 4th, at 1:00 PM to get in a creative spring mood.

ANCESTRY ACCESS: The access to Ancestry Library Edition is open to users within the Library building. This database company graciously gave at home access for several years but are now asking you to use the service right here at Kimball Library. Please stop in during our open 55 hours, or if it’s not too chilly, you may be able to remote in from the parking lot. Happy ancestor hunting!

STAY TUNED: Visit our website, Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube or Instagram to learn about more program updates and more resources.

MORE INFO: Go to https://kimballlibrary.com to use the databases and online services. Miss a news article? Go to https://kimballlibrary.blogspot.com to read each and every one! You may also call us Monday-Friday from 10-8 and on Saturday from 10-3 at 603.362.5234 to register for an event with a live person who would love to help you.
