Kimball Library News 12/10/23

Sometimes you don’t want to register for programs as your life may feel too scheduled. We’ve got you covered! We have a variety of offerings that let you just drop in without a commitment. Read on for some samples.

SPARKLE BLING: During the vacation week, we will have some Make & Take crafts in the Children’s Barn. On Tuesday, December 26th, Mrs. Birr will be offering ‘Sparkle Bling’ from 10:00 AM to noon. Children ages 3-8 will have the materials and coaching to make a sparkly necklace. Registration is not required.

FILM CLUB: On December 26th, Gran Turismo will be shown at 1 PM. Rated:  PG-13 Runtime:  135 minutes. The film is based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs, a struggling working-class gamer, a failed former racecar driver and an idealistic motorsport executive. Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world. It is an inspiring, thrilling and action-packed story that proves that nothing is impossible when you're fueled from within.

COMMUNITY KNITTERS: Join this caring group on Thursdays as they bring in their projects and knit for charity. This a meaningful act of service and you will make new friends to boot!

WEEKLY WINTER DROP-INS: Drop in to the Children's Room to have some fun with us! Registration is not required.

Mondays: Preschool Playtime (Toddlers/Preschool) between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
Why organize a gathering time to 'just' play? Play improves the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and young people. Through play, children learn about the world and themselves. They also learn skills they need for study, work and relationships such as: confidence.

Caregivers also need time to connect and form relationships with other adults who are caring for similar aged children. If a time is organized, we can be assured that the littles have someone to play with and the adults have someone to talk with.

Thursdays: Toddler Time (Toddlers+) between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM
Drop in on Thursday mornings in the Children's Craft Barn and let your little ones explore some sensory learning materials. Playtime is so much fun when you can make a mess!

Fridays: Think Outside the Box! (ages 3+) between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM
Calling all kids who like to build - come try out our challenges! Can you make a bridge out of Keva planks? What about an entire city made out of rainbow snap blocks? How high can you build a tower using just paper plates and cups? Each week we'll have different materials and STEM toys to work with and a different challenge to work on.

Library Look & Find (All ages) between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM: Every week there will be something hidden in the Children's Room. Will it be a toy? A picture? A super-secret message? Stop in to find out and maybe win a prize!

HOLIDAY HOURS: The Kimball Library will close on Monday, December 25th and on Monday, January 1st. Stock up on items in advance, or visit our downloadable services such as Kanopy, Hoopla, or Libby.
