Kimball Library News 12/17/23

Our present to you in 2024 is a new database to use either in the Library or at home!

PROQUEST: The Kimball Library’s gift to you this holiday season is an exciting new database, Proquest, which provides access to the day’s current articles from to the top five United States newspapers: The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune and The Los Angeles Times. It also includes the Boston Globe! The newspapers are searchable and include articles going back decades if you are doing research.

Imagine! You can sit in the Library or at home in your bathrobe with a cup of coffee and read today’s news in these highly regarded, Pulitzer prize-winning papers! All you need is your Kimball Library card!

There is so much to enjoy! We are very excited to offer this amazing resource to the community. The service will begin in January, and we look forward to being able to give you a tour of all that’s available.

WEEKLY WINTER PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS: Registration is required.

Mondays: Mother Goose on the Loose (Birth to 3) at 10:15 AM.
Infants through age 3 with their caregivers are invited to join us for simple stories, rhymes, finger plays, and songs modeling after the Mother Goose curriculum.  Please feel welcome to stay after the session to allow for playtime and socializing for all ages.

If you sign up, we consider you registered for the length of the session which ends in March. Registration is rolling. If the class is full, please go ahead and register ONE time and you will be placed on the wait list. We will be in touch! Email kwatson@kimballlibrary.com for specific questions.

Tuesdays: Bitty Books (Ages 3 to 6) at 10:15 AM.
Children with their caregivers are invited to join us for a traditional class with itty bitty stories, rhymes, finger plays or songs and simple crafts. Once registered, you are enrolled for the winter/spring session.

Wednesdays: Discovery Storytime (Ages 3 to 6) at 1:00 PM.
PreK friends ages 3-6 (and their caregivers) are encouraged to join us for some tactile fun, stories, finger plays or actions songs, and crafts. We'll have several stations set up with fun activities that will build on our fine motor and other skills. We might get a little messy in this class, but that's part of the fun!

Thursdays: Sensory Storytime (3 to 5) at 10:15 AM and 12:00 PM
Join us for an exceptional exploratory class. Some story times are too long! Some classes are too easy. Sensory Storytime is just right for your little one who is almost ready for full story time but may still be challenged by so much structure.

Join us for one story, followed by an opportunity to play with sensory and art activities that reinforce what was heard in the story. (We will accept younger toddlers as long as parents and caregivers are aware we may use small parts at our stations.)

HOLIDAY HOURS: The Kimball Library will close on Monday, December 25th and on Monday, January 1st. Stock up on items in advance, or visit our downloadable services such as Proquest, Kanopy, Hoopla, or Libby.
