Kimball Library News 6/15/10

Did you do your ‘homework’ and bring the kids and teens in to register for summer reading? It’s not too late, but don’t delay so they can get started on prizes.

All Thursdays and Fridays in the month of July have something for kids to look forward to. Each Thursday from 3:30-5pm a movie will be playing in the Children’s Room related to the ‘Make a Splash’ theme. On July 1 we’ll be starting the series off with “Shark Tale.” Likewise, on Fridays we are allowing children in grades 1-5 to ‘get wet’ with some Wii water games from 1-3pm. Kids can join us for a time of open play for water-related Wii games such as penguin slide, river balance bubble, wakeboarding, beach Frisbee, power cruising and canoeing.

Teen Thursdays continue in July as well from 6:30-7:30pm. Each week there is a different event and it all relates to the ‘Make Waves’ theme. On July 2 our Wii event will consist of water games from Wii Sports Resort (wakeboarding, beach Frisbee, power cruising, canoeing), and teens who are part of summer reading will receive a raffle ticket for registering and attending. It’s all part of the plot to make the teen librarian ‘go blue!’
Adults, don’t be left out of Wii fun and games. Every Friday from 10:30am to 12pm you’re welcome to join us for Wii Sports and/or Wii Sports Resort in the large meeting room. The ‘regulars’ welcome newcomers and will happily give instruction if you’ve never played before. Join in for good times at Kimball Library.

Need a book or a movie for the weekend and you didn’t make it in during the week? Here is a reminder that we are open every Saturday during the year including summers with the exception of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. We’re here on Saturdays until 3pm so stop in and stock up.
