Kimball Library News 6/29/10

Scratch, computer programming software created by MIT, is a fun and easy way for young animators to design and learn to animate! Using 'script blocks', which is the code to make your game animate, and 'Sprites', which are your characters, you can create ANYTHING with this awesome, cool software! What is even MORE cool is that YOU can participate in group sessions of Scratch at the library on Saturdays in July if you are entering grade 6 up through grade 12. Sessions will be held from 10:30am to 12pm. Find out more about Scratch by taking a peek on scratch.mit.edu. Our instructor is Wesley Clapp who is a middle school Scratch enthusiast. Registration is required and there are limited slots available. Please sign up individually for each session you'd like to attend.

For all ages we are showing an epic trilogy which will run on 3 consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning at 6:30pm until each film is finished which will be approximately 10pm. Save your Tuesdays and invite your friends. JULY 13: The Fellowship of the Ring, JULY 20: The Two Towers, JULY 27: The Return of the King. ***TEENS & TWEENS - MAKE WAVES, register and attend, and you'll receive a raffle ticket toward the summer reading prize jar.

Also upcoming and exciting is Kokopelli, Southern New Hampshire's Flute Ensemble, coming to Kimball Library to entertain us for a summer's evening of music and relaxation. Come and kick back on the beautiful library patio on Thursday, July 15, from 6:30-7:30pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and listen to some lovely music by local musicians. Ice cream sundaes will be served. In the event of inclement weather, the program will take place in the large library meeting room. We are fortunate to host his program which is being sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
