Kimball Library News 1/4/11

Celebrate Saturdays by registering for our Saturday Cinema! This month on January 15th at 10:30am we are showing a rated PG film on the big screen in the meeting room. You’ll meet the villain who is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon, and he delights in all things wicked. One day he encounters three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen--a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge--three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes. This is a fun film for all to take pleasure in. Please register online at your earliest convenience.

TAG….you’re in! Volunteer for special projects, help choose library programs, recommend materials to purchase, and give reviews of teen materials and programs. TAG (Teen Advisory Group) is open to grades 6 and up who are interested in making the library be a place teens want to be. Register online (the library calendar on the website) and start making a difference in your library. TAG meets at 6:30pm on the third Thursday of each month. This month’s meeting is on January 20th. TAG meetings and projects are negotiable for teens needing community service hours. If you have any questions talk to Kathy Watson, Teen Librarian or email her at youngadult@kimballlibrary.com.

Jump for joy in January for the ‘Jack Frost Jamboree’! This exciting event will take place on Saturday, January 22nd, from 10:30am-2:30pm. The library is being transformed into a mini golf course with nine wacky holes to try. Other events will include a snowball walk, snow shoe demonstrations (for adults and children), winter crafts, face painting, an option to participate in hat and mitten donations for Ruth’s House in Haverhill, MA, and refreshments including hot dogs (served 11:30am-1:30pm) and popcorn (served 11am-2pm). It’s already starting to snow in our lobby … come check it out and save the date.

JOIN in our Jack Frost Jamboree fun in advance by competing in our “Salvaged Snow Sculpture Contest”. Any age is eligible to participate in creating a wintry ‘nipping at your nose ’sculpture all out of ‘go green’ material. Contest rules and sample entries are available in the Children’s Room. All entries must be in the library by 8pm on January 21, and voting will take place on January 22 by the public.
