School vacation week is fast approaching, and if you don’t have plans for the kids we do. Please note that the library will be closed on the Monday, February 21st, for Presidents Day. We will have activities on Tuesday through Friday for most ages.
TUESDAY, FEB 22, 1PM: MAKE A BIRD FEEDER-Attract a variety of birds to your backyard with this bird feeder. It will disappear when they discover it! Register ages 5 years and up.
WII BRAWL, 6:30PM-This is a great time to literally duke it out with other Brawl bros. Register yourself and a few of your friends to see who the Brawl champ is. Big screen competition awaits you. If you have your own game cube controllers you can bring them in or you can use our Wiimotes. Register grades 6 and up.
WEDNESDAY, FEB 23, 1PM: TUMBLEBOOK DAY-Come to the library and read e-books! We'll choose the stories together, then listen and read with the talking picture books. You'll enjoy them and be surprised at the giant selection of books to use at home on your own computer. Preschool and elementary ages are welcome.
TEEN MOVIE NIGHT, 6:30PM -fun and free! Invite your friends (register them and yourself) for a night out. Your friends do not have to be Atkinson residents. We'll be showing 'It's Kind of Funny Story' and making you popcorn. Please bring your own movie candy and clear beverages. Register grades 6 and up.
THURSDAY, FEB 24: SCIENCE MAGIC-A program for elementary school children ages 6+. Ever wonder how magic tricks really work? This program investigates the science behind the 'magic' of several classic magic tricks. You might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity. For the grand finale, our instructor will demonstrate how science can make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails.
APPLES TO APPLES, 6:30PM-Vacation week deserves a break from studying and teen focus. Come in and play 'Apples to Apples'. Candy and fun for grades 6 and up! Register yourself and a friend.
FRIDAY, FEB 25, 6:30PM: READ & FEED STORY TIME-Drop in and enjoy several stories to be followed by a snack. Preschool and elementary ages are welcome.
