Kimball Library News 2/7/12

Here is your official reminder that Kerri Durkee of Functional Home Designs will be here on Thursday, February 16th, from 6:30-8pm giving you insider tips and tricks on preparing your home for sale. From cleaning and de-cluttering to neutralizing, and beyond, you will come away with an understanding of how and why home staging is an integral part of your sales strategy. Don’t miss this valuable presentation.

New on Tuesdays we have “The Dabblers” who are a painting and crafts group. They are looking for like-minded artisans to join them. They are seeking beginners to advanced folk in oil, acrylic or watercolor media on canvas, wood or paper. They are willing to help you get started or you can just bring in a project of your choice. This casual, friendly group meets every Tuesday from 10am to noon. Just drop in and stay for all or part of the time allotted. No registration is necessary.

Got those ‘vacation week is coming and I have to get the kids out of the house’ blues? We have just the solution—daily library visits! This is a great time to check out some new dvds, books, music, magazines and more. We also have quite the mash-up of classes and events for various ages. Take a look at the myriad of events below. Please note if registration is required (note the asterisk) and get on the roster as soon as possible. You and the children won’t want to miss out!

*T/ween ‘No-Bake, Bake-Off (grades 5-12)—6:30pm-8:00pm*: The T/ween 'No-Bake, Bake-Off!' rules are fairly simple. You can make a drink, appetizer or dessert that has a February theme of your choice. It has to be primarily made in the library and you may use the microwave to heat up your creation. If you want to do some prep at home, that is acceptable. You may bring your own blender. You have thirty minutes to create your entry. You may work alone or with a partner, and you must be sure to bring everything you need for materials. Register soon!

Wednesday, February 29th

*Let’s Paint! (grades K and up)—3:00pm-4:00pm*: Join us for a fun-filled hour of art! We will have many different types of paint: watercolor, acrylic, finger-paint, and many different surfaces to paint on: paper, bark, even rocks. Show up and let your expressive side shine!

Thursday, March 1st

*Make It or Take It! (ages 4-10)—1:00pm-3:00pm*: A project to hang in your room is waiting for you to make! Stay here and put it together or take it home and do it! Register to make sure you have your craft or drop-in and take your chances that materials will be available.

*Stuffed Animal Sleepover—6:00pm—7:30pm*: Prepare a stuffed animal for a night in the library! We will read stories, make s'mores, sing lullabies, and more! Come back the following morning to see what kind of trouble your furry-little-friend got into during the night! Register in advance.
