Kimball Library News 2/16/15

MOVIE NIGHT: Join us for 'Big Hero 6' on the big screen on Thursday, February 26th, from 6:15-8:00pm.  You may bring seating from home or pillows to sprawl out, otherwise we have chairs for you.  Register *all ages (friends and adults included) so we can have a head count.  Print a ticket to make it easy!

‘When a criminal plot threatens the hi-tech metropolis of San Fransokyo, brilliant young robotics whiz Hiro Hamada leaps into action with his tech-savvy friends, and his robot companion Baymax in Disney Animation's adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics series.’

*For this event, children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult.  Children ages 6-9 must have a waiver signed the night of the actual event with a phone number of where the adult/guardian can be reached.  Youth ages 10 and up are allowed to be dropped off.

GAME ON: Get your game on!  Challenge your brain during vacation week in a way that's fun and exciting!  Drop in between 11am-6pm on Friday, February 27th, to play a game in the children's room.  You can even challenge the librarian to a game of tic tac toe.  (Winner gets a small prize.)  Bring your friends and your competitive spirit!

LIBRARY BUDDIES: Our renowned “Library Buddies” program is back for the 8th consecutive year.  This popular six week series will be running from March 11 to April 15 on Wednesdays from 4-5pm.  Little buddies in grades K-3 will be paired with an older buddy in grades 6-12 to read with, create projects with, play games with, and hang with.  Registration is a commitment to all six weeks, barring sickness, unless you make arrangements in advance.

Also, we are looking for capable teens and tweens (middle school and older only, please) to play the part of the big buddy.  Please note the six week commitment and ask to talk to Kathy Watson, Youth Services Director, if you are interested.   Buddies are expected to commit to all six weeks unless pre-arranged.  Generally, half of the time will be devoted to reading while the other half will be spent jointly doing puzzles, games, crafts or coloring. Crafts will be pre-selected for you.  All readers’ hours will be recorded. Your time spent with us may also be used toward community service hours (older buddies).  We have separate online registration for each of the age groups.  Please be careful to click on little buddies (K-3) or big buddies (grades 6-12).  .  Registration is mandatory.  Non-resident big buddy applicants will be considered.
