Kimball Library News 1/21/19

Try your luck and take home our 'gently' donated books, books, and more books! Pre K-Grade 5 can join in the fun of playing Bingo and parents can help the younger kids. Register now for a good time and win some new books! This Saturday event is happening on February 2nd between 12:30 and 2:00 PM.  Play for all of the time or just come by for one round.

It’s almost time for the winter vacation week and we have some great events and activities on the horizon.  Read along each week to know what’s ahead or jump on the online calendar to get your registrations in early.

MOTHER GOOSE AROUND THE WORLD: Infants, toddlers, preschoolers and the adults they bring can sing along to the words of commonly known songs such as 'Frere Jacque' and learn some new words and phrases featuring various languages as well.

Be ready to get up and clap your hands or move your feet to the beat. Miss Michelle and Miss Kathy will get you moving and grooving and singing before you know it.  Register those babies up through kindergarten age.  This fun event has also been known as ‘Travel Musically Around the World’ and is taking place during the normally scheduled Mother Goose class on Monday, February 25th.  Please sign up for it separately even if your child normally attends Mother Goose on the Loose.

T/WEEN STITCH-A-BIT: Also happening during vacation week is the regular class where youth in grades 5 and up come together to knit or crochet.  Typically youth ride the bus here after school.  No bus ride on vacation week February 25th, but come between 2:30 and 4:30 with your knit or crochet project.  If you are new to the stitching crafts, ask in advance what you should bring and we’ll help you get started.  Register online if you are not already part of this Monday group of tweens and teens make bunnies from squares, scarves, headbands, fingerless mittens and more!

INK BLOT, CREATIVE DOT: Have you ever turned an art mistake into something amazing? Do you sometimes see something beautiful in what others would see as messy? Have fun with us creating a colorful dot, splash, blot or splat and turning it into a masterpiece. Your artwork can be anything you can imagine!

Join us for what is sure to be a fun filled, colorful evening on Monday, February 25th at 6:30 PM!  Registered youth in grades K-5 may participate.

FRIENDS OF KIMBALL LIBRARY: Join this lively group and support your local library. The Friends are responsible for fundraising all the amazing extras they provide to the Kimball Library. They meet once a month to brainstorm new ideas and work on existing fundraisers. Meetings typically start at 10:15 with refreshments and business starts at 10:30. See the date for some upcoming meetings. February 20th, March 20, April 17, May 15, and June 19, 2019.

HOLIDAY CLOSING: In observance of Presidents Day, the library will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019.  As always, Overdrive, the Libby App, Hoopla, Tumblebooks, and our library databases are open 24/7 with a library card in good standing.

As a reminder, library cards need yearly renewal as they do automatically expire.  When it’s your time to do so, please stop in with identification indicating your Atkinson residency.  Thank you!
