Kimball Library News 1/28/19


Winter vacation week for many schools is right around the corner.  Take a look at what we have in brief, and then keep reading for some more details on some of them below.

VACATION WEEK EVENTS: Get out your calendar and starting signing the kids up for event during WINTER STAY-CATION 2019 from February 25- March 2.  All activities require registration.


Monday February 25: ‘Mother Goose Around the World’ (aka Travel Musically Around the World) for babies up to kindergarten at 10:30 AM. ‘T/ween Stitch A Bit’ for ages 9-19 between 2:30 and 4:30 PM.  ‘Ink Blot, Creative Dot’ for kindergarten through grade 5 at 6:30 PM.

Tuesday February 26: ‘Monkeys Like Bananas!’ for ages 2 to 6 at 10:30 AM.  ‘Family Film-Ralph Breaks the Internet’ for all ages at 1:00 PM. ‘Snap Circuit Lab 101’ for grades 2 through 5 at 6:30 PM.
Wednesday February 27: ‘SubZero Nitrogen Ice Cream Family STEM event for kindergarten and up with their families at 6:30 PM. 

Thursday February 28: ‘S.T.E.M. Toys’ for ages 3 and up between the hours of 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM.  ‘Origami is Lots of Fun’ for grades K through 5 at 4:00 PM. 

Friday March 1: ‘Crazy for Cars’ for any car loving youth between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM. ‘Who’s got the Button?’ for t/weens ages 10+ between 2:30 and 4:30 PM.

Saturday March 2: ‘Kung Fu/Lion Dance’ with Chris Fazzio for grades 1 to 5 at 10:30 AM. 

MONKEYS LIKE BANANAS: One banana, two banana, three banana, four… Even though I ate them all, I still want more!!   Register the little monkeys in your life ages 2-6 for this yummy and fun program on Tuesday, February 26th, at 10:30 AM. Come for stories about monkeys and bananas, and then have the joy of making a banana strawberry pancake on a stick to eat and enjoy.  No monkeyshine, register now before we are all out of bananas and seats!

FAMILY FILM: Young and old are invited to ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ on Tuesday, February 26th, at 1 PM.  Free popcorn for all.  Six years after the events of "Wreck-It Ralph," Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure. Rated PG, runtime 2 hours.  

BOOK DISCUSSIONS ADULTS: We regularly host one morning and one evening book group per month for adults.  The February PM session is meeting at 6 PM on Tuesday the 19th to discuss ‘The Girl in the Red Coat’ by Kate Hamer. The AM session is meeting at 10 AM on Wednesday the 27th to discuss ‘The Girl Who Wrote in Silk’ by Kelli Estes.  Each of these groups are open to the public and books are available at the front desk for library card holders of Kimball Library, Plaistow or Sandown Public Library.  

UPCOMING TUESDAY MOVIES: The following films are scheduled at 1 PM with free popcorn.  Please note that occasionally the movies may change. Check the website for up-to-date information.  February 5th is ‘The Wife’, February 12th is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, February 19th is ‘A Star is Born’, and February 26th is ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’.

HOLIDAY CLOSING: In observance of Presidents Day, the library will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019.  As always, Overdrive, the Libby App, Hoopla, Tumblebooks, and our library databases are open 24/7 with a library card in good standing.  

As a reminder, library cards need yearly renewal as they do automatically expire.  When it’s your time to do so, please stop in with identification indicating your Atkinson residency.  Thank you!
