Are you
excited for the New Year? We are! Join us for lots of fun as we prepare to
celebrate! We will be doing party activities and you'll even make goodies you
can take home for your own celebration. You'll love the crafts and games we
have planned. You don't want to miss the Kimball Library's last party of 2019!
Kids in
grades K-5 are invited to join us on Monday morning, December 30th,
starting at 10:30 AM. Caretakers may relax in another part of the library while
the kids have their very own shindig.
Registration is required so we can have enough supplies. Have your children get their party ON!
NEEDLE
CRAFTERS: Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, rug braiding, quilting
or another form of needle work come join us for Needle Crafters. Each
Wednesday, this informal gathering is a fun meet-up for those who are currently
working on projects or who wish to start one. Are you stuck on a stitch or
confused by a pattern? Most likely someone in the group can help. It is a great
group to get some ideas for beginning new projects as well. This weekly meet
and greet group enjoy conversation and laughs all while stitching away. We begin officially at 10:30 AM but come when
you can and leave when you must.
Come alone
or bring a friend. All experience levels and ages are welcome. You do not need
to be an Atkinson resident - All are invited. Please bring your own supplies. For
planning purposes, registration is required.
HOT SPOTS: They are hot! They are Hotspots! You may not
know that we currently own two that are available for lending.
The Wi-Fi
Hotspot is about the size of a deck of cards and can link up to 15 devices to
the internet at the same time. The Wi-Fi Hotspot is portable and simple to use.
The Hotspot connects to T-Mobile’s cellular network. By connecting your phone,
tablet, or other wireless-enabled device to it, you can get online anywhere
within T-Mobile’s coverage area – try it at home, or wherever you’re going!
The Hotspot
may be borrowed only by Kimball Library cardholders in good standing. They may
be borrowed for a 1-week period. Overdue fines are $5 per day. The borrower is
responsible for any loss or damage to the Hotspot. Replacement costs is $100.
The charging components are $20.
If you are
curious you should try them out at home, so you can be prepared the next time
you go on vacation or lose your internet connection. Your kids will LOVE that
they can use their iPads, Chromebooks, and when traveling in car. Come on by
and tech it out!
CHILDREN’S ROOM IPADS: We have loaded them up
with book and early literacy apps, and you will be able to check them out to a
designated area by the Children’s Information Desk and use them for one
hour. Most of the apps are appropriate
for preschool age children as well as there are some that you can use with
toddlers. There are some apps that are
geared for elementary age as well. This
is a tool for you to use with your child, and we have an agreement for you to
sign before doing so. Just ask to check one out at the Children’s Desk.
By signing
our form when checking out the iPad, you agree to the following: The iPad is
free to Kimball Library users to borrow in-house. Only adult residents over the age of 18 with
a current library card in good standing will be allowed to borrow the
iPad. The iPad will be loaned out for
one hour at a time, but time can be extended if nobody is waiting. It must be used in the Children’s Room unless
you have special permission. Parental
supervision is required at all times. No
downloads permitted.
Please also
note that we have an iPad available at the Main Circ Desk for viewing
downloadable magazines and more. Be sure
to check it out to use in the building.
SPECIAL
HOURS: Due to the holiday season we will have some special hours in
December. Please be aware that on
December 24th (Christmas Eve) we will be OPEN from 10-2 only. We will be CLOSED on December 25th
(Christmas Day). We will be OPEN December 31st (New Year’s Eve) from
10-3 only. We will be CLOSED on January
1st. Overdrive Downloadable Books, the Libby App, Kanopy, and Hoopla
are open 24/7 with a library card in good standing.
