Kimball Library News 9/21/2020

Fall in love with your library (again). Even though most events are virtual and masks are required, much of the library jazz that you love the most still exists. You may stop by to browse, use the computers, or see a friendly face. We have a myriad of virtual programming for the fall as well as a few small in-person gatherings planned. Check out the website for all the details or drop by and get your information mask to mask!

BEAUTIFUL RAFFLE BASKETS: They’re back!  Stop in to view the beautiful raffle baskets on display at the Library.  There are 9 baskets in total and raffle tickets can be purchased at the front circulation desk.  Ticket prices are $3.00 for 1; $5.00 for 2; $10.00 for 5; OR $20.00 for 12.  Tickets will be drawn on October 30th.  You do not need to present for the drawing and winners will be notified.  Proceeds from the raffle sales support the Friends of the Kimball Library.

What could you possibly win? There is a gift card tree with at $472 value, a money tree with $110 attached, and themed baskets such as Artisan Wood Treasures, Freshwater Farms, Secret Garden, Glamour, Under the Tuscan Sun, Along the Vineyard Trail (guess what is in that?!), and even a chance to win cutting your own tree at Stewart’s! If that isn’t enough to entice you personally, win a basket and gift it!  Holiday shopping and supporting your local library all in one fell swoop!

YOUNG AUTHORS WORKSHOP: Have you ever dreamed of being a published author? Don't let your dreams be dreams! Start writing today with a special workshop on finding and generating inspiration for your own creative stories. We'll talk about where ideas hide, how to bring them to life on the page, and how to keep your momentum and motivation running strong.

This will be part of a three-part workshop series for tweens and teens interesting in improving their writing and working towards someday publishing finished work. The workshops will work to prepare students to take on National Novel Writing Month in November. It is not required to attend any to enroll in the National Novel Writing Month. Everyone is encouraged to give it a go!

*These workshops will be geared for students in Gr 6+ starting Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30 via Zoom. For younger writers, we offer a weekly Writer's Group on Thursdays at 5:00pm.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK GIVEAWAY:  A Book giveaway?  Yes, your eyes did not deceive you.  This is a week-long opportunity to stock up on some gently used books.  Please bring your own bags.  This event will run from Saturday (10:00 – 3:00) through Friday (M-F 10:00 – 8:00). Just stop by the Library and the assortment will be on display in the meeting room.  Please note:  social distancing and masks are required when visiting the Library.
