Kimball Library News 8/6/23

For the month of August, the Library will be hosting an exciting exhibit of Judy Durkin’s oil and acrylic paintings. Please stop by the meeting room to enjoy her work.

“Art is for the soul, and it is very personal. I paint what I love, and I am happiest when I see an expression of awe, joy, surprise and even sometimes sadness on the face of someone viewing my paintings. Art is not what the viewer looks at but what they see. I hope my paintings evoke an emotion in you, the viewer. May they all bring you inspiration, charm and joy.”

SUMMER CONCERT with the TIMBERLANE COMMUNITY JAZZ BAND: The Timberlane Community Jazz Band (TCMA Jazz Band) was formed in the mid-2000's.  Directed by John Mainella, they play a repertoire of big band tunes from yesterday and today with a modern, jazzy, swinging edge.

Don't forget to invite your friends and family to join you for a wonderful evening of music on Thursday, August 31st at 6:00 PM. We are forever grateful to the George Family Charities for their generous sponsorship and to The Friends of the Kimball Library for hosting.

* In case of rain, the concert will be moved to inside the Atkinson Fire Department.  We suggest that in the event of rain, you please check the library website for updates.

SEW IT UP (Wednesdays): Do you like to sew or want to learn? Join this super friendly and welcoming group who like to do all sorts of sewing including crafts, garments and home decorations.  With sewing machines in hand, we gather together on Wednesdays at 12:30 and talk about sewing projects, techniques, fabric and more all while stitching away.  Don’t have a project that you are currently working on?  No problem, we have a couple projects to get you started. It is a great time to share ideas, swap fabric, learn some new techniques and stay inspired. The group is for all levels and meets on Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30. *Please bring your sewing machine and project.  If you do not have sewing machine please indicate when registering as we may have an extra one you can use when we meet.

Darlene Irving, Sew It Up! group organizer, generously offers her volunteer time to teach 1 - 1 and group sewing classes.  She has been sewing for over 40 years and enjoys sharing her love of sewing with others.

EVENING BOOK CLUB: The Evening Book Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month to discuss a title chosen by the group. Why not join in, take an hour and talk about this month’s book? Hear what others have to say and enjoy the conversations.
