Does your teddy bear like adventure? Is your favorite dolly dying to get out of the house? Register for the ‘Stuffed Animal Sleepover’ that’s happening from 6-7:30pm on Thursday, March 1, in the Children’s Room. Children of all ages are welcome to prepare their favorite stuffed animal for a night in the library. We will read stories, make s'mores, sing lullabies, and more before you put your baby or critter to bed. Come back the following morning to see what kind of trouble your furry-little-friend or little dolly got into during the night! Feel free to wear your jammies! Registration is required so don’t delay as space is limited. (Parents, please be sure that your children don’t bring that one animal or doll they really can’t sleep without or it’s going to be a long long night. ;)
The Friday of vacation week is a perfect time to get the children out of the house and into the library. We have an open time of Wii for any youth in grade one up through high school on March 2nd from 12-5pm. We’ll have a variety of games and opportunities. Come for all or part of the time. No registration is necessary. Friends from other towns are welcome. Youth under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult.
As Editor of Wreck & Rescue Journal, John Galluzzo has traveled the United States in search of tales of shipwrecks and lifesaving. Along the way, he has been treated to marvelous views of the country's lighthouses - short, tall, ornamental, utilitarian - always dramatically situated and each with its own story to tell. In ‘Lighthouses Far and Near’ he takes us on a journey from Boston Harbor to the Great Lakes to the West Coast and back again. You’ll get your chance to get ‘near’ these lighthouses on Tuesday, March 6thth, from 6:30-8pm. John Galluzzo will be with us. Please invite your friends and family. This is a drop-in event and registration is not required.
Here’s a reminder that we are inviting grade 5 to join the ‘Tween’ book discussions. On March 7th, from 6:30-7:30pm we’ll be discussing “Uprising” by Margaret Peterson Haddix. We meet the FIRST Wednesday evening of each month from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss the book selected. Refreshments and thought-provoking conversation will be served. All grade 5-8 students are welcome. (Not young adults, not children -- hence, TWEENagers.) We have books! Come pick one up.
On the 14th of March the ‘Teen” book discussion will be sharing thoughts on the book ‘Impossible’ by Nancy Werlin. We meet the SECOND Wednesday evening of each month from 6:30-7:30pm to discuss the book selected. Refreshments and stimulating conversation and disagreements will be served. We love to have a good brawl over a book! All interested high school students are welcome. Please ask for a copy of the current book at the front desk.
