Kimball Library News 4/24/12

If you have a teenager in your life that you’d like to encourage to try our monthly book discussion then May is the month. Teens will gather at 6:30 on Wednesday, May 9th, to discuss a graphic novel entitled ‘Rapunzel’s Revenge’. This book is a fast read and should appeal to even the most reluctant of readers. Even if graphic novels aren’t their thing, most likely the discussion that is off-topic and the candy that is available will appeal to them. Please give us a try.

When Lady Hawke, the reader dog, was out for physical therapy we had lots of people calling to see when she’d be back. Hawke only comes for children, so you must register if you want to spend time with her. Hawke visits us on the third Wednesday of each month. This month that happens to be on May 16th. She loves to hear the children read to her. She is patient and loving and never corrects mistakes. Hawke is a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International and is very accommodating with children of all ages. Hawke lives in Plaistow with her brother and sister labs. Register to read to her and visit between 4 and 5pm on the 16th. You might get a big lick thanking you by the loveable Lab. ;)

The ever-popular Felicia Motherway is back on Tuesday, May 15th, from 6:30-8:00pm. Learn some basic horticulture by planting a delightful, fragrant planter of herbs! Plant your favorite culinary herbs in a 20 inch terracotta window box planter perfect outside your kitchen door, deck or patio. Please note that registration is required and a $25.00 material fee must be paid when registering. Felicia will have extra inexpensive herbs for sale that evening so make sure you save the date. Invite a friend or two and join the fun getting your hands dirty and enjoy an evening out!

Here is a gentle reminder to register for the *new* upcoming classes ‘Music & Me’. Children from three to five years old and their caregivers are welcome to join us for some early music-development activities at ‘Music and Me’! Our time will be spent in circle-dancing, call-and-response songs, rhythmic stories, and percussion activities. Our focus will be music, but our activities will also teach socialization and early literacy skills. Come join the fun starting on Monday, May 7th! These classes are from 11:30 to noon on Mondays. *This is a 5 week program to run: 5/7/12 - 6/11/12. Registration is required.
