Kimball Library News 12/16/13

Time around the holidays means different things for different people.  Some of us have parties to go to, some of us have family to gather with, some of us have kids home with not enough to do.  Take time to plan a little 'down time' to decompress with some items from the library.  Stock up on books, movies, music, and magazines.  For those of you who have compatible gadgets, browse and check out downloadable books right off our website.  You can choose from hundreds of ebooks and audio books and have one for free on your gadget in a matter of minutes.

What about something affordable and educational for your family on their vacation?  Have you considered the myriad of museum passes we have for discounted prices?  Take a gander at a just a few of the featured museums below.

What about the Wenham Museum? Bring the entire family to discover the treasures of childhood and explore how New Englanders have lived, worked, dressed and played from the 17th century to today at the Wenham Museum. Enjoy the world-famous doll and toy collection and delightful model train gallery. Learn from the historic costume, textile, and photograph collections. Step back in time on a guided tour of the circa 1690 Claflin-Richards House…then experience hands-on history in the Family Discovery Gallery. Changing special exhibitions mean there is always something new to see!

What about Imajine That?  Imajine That is a first of its kind family and child interactive playspace where human potential has no boundaries. Their unique 12,000 square foot playspace offers an environment where families can create and learn together in a safe and educational way. Imajine That's "Imagination Stations" include a child-sized grocery store, a HUGE dinosaur climbing structure, Between the Lions reading area, Peep and the Big Wide World Science Station, Pirate Area, and an arts and crafts area, just to name a few!

What about Peabody Essex Museum?  PEM is the place to go for enjoyment, enrichment, sharing with family and friends, and creative stimulation.  You can gain exciting insights about yourselves and other cultures through special exhibitions, weekend festivals and family art-making programs. You are vital to the equation. Your experiences shape the art you look at and the performances you watch, making them more meaningful and transformative.  Current exhibitions include 'Impressionists on the Water' and 'Future Beauty-Avant-Garde Japanese Fashion'.
