Kimball Library News 7/13/15

MYTHOLOGY OF HEROES: Come one, come all, to hear the tales of heroes long since passed.

Heroes exist today, tomorrow and will hundreds of years from now. They even existed hundreds of years ago too!  Come join us to learn about the heroes of Greek mythology.  Each station will provide a lesson about our Greek heroes and an activity.  Can you give the Cyclops his eye back?  Defend against evil creatures with your new shield!  Tell your hero’s story for years to come when you make your own ancient Greek pot.  You can even feed the Minotaur!  Proceed to the final station to find a mythology book of your own to check out and continue the learning with.

Register in the present if you are entering grade K-5.  Plan to come on Thursday, July 23, from 6:30-7:30pm to get acquainted with mythological heroes!

SUPERHERO COMIC STRIP COASTERS: This decoupage craft is just perfect for the summer!  When it's finished you can put your ‘super’ cool glass of lemonade right on it!  You'll want to show all your friends when it's done.

Register grades K-5 for Monday, July 27, from 6:30-7:30pm to make this ‘super’ craft!

MOVIE NIGHT IN THE COURTYARD:  A lovable misfit from another planet meets a girl named Tip. The two unlikely friends embark on the greatest journey of all time…the journey HOME.   This film is starring Jim Parsons and Rihanna.

Come and get a spot on the Kimball Courtyard lawn to enjoy some popcorn and drinks before the movie begins sometime between 7:30 and 8:00.  Bring a blanket or a lawn chair.  The movie will start at 8:00 PM (run time is 1h 34m) or when it’s dark enough.  DVD release of the movie is ON the 28th!

Please register all ages so we can reach you in case of a change in venue due to the *weather and for the head count. *crosses fingers* Non-residents are welcome to this free performance. This movie event is sponsored by the wonderful Atkinson Recreation Department.
