Kimball Library News 7/6/15

IMPROV WORKSHOP: This workshop is all about making it up on the spot!  Using a mix of theatrical warm-ups and comedy improv games, we will dive into the fast-paced world of improvisation.  This exciting group program teaches teamwork and give/take and creative problem solving in a fun, safe environment.

We are taking registered teens and tweens only, please, for this exciting event (grades 4-12).  This ‘UNMASK with Keith Munslow’ Improv workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:15-6:30pm.  Registration is limited, and residents have priority if it should become full.

About Keith Munslow: Keith teaches and performs musical improv at The Providence Improv Guild (www.improvpig.com) with his wife, Melissa Bowler. As a composer, Keith has created original music for Perishable Theatre’s Shows for Young Audiences, as well as main stage productions, Manton Avenue Project, and choreographer Heidi Henderson. For over a decade, Keith was a principal performer and musical director for Big Nazo, an international puppet and mask theater group based in Providence.
With an unstinting commitment to creativity and collaboration, Keith continues to search for new opportunities to combine his interests in the performing arts, literacy and community building. He resides in Providence with his wife and son, Luc.

MUNSLOW VARIETY SHOW: Following the improv workshop and a 30 minute break on Wednesday, July 22, Keith Munslow will open in the courtyard for all ages starting at 7pm sharp.  Keith is a wildly funny guy who tells stories, draws cartoons and sings songs–all in one show! Keith’s highly interactive show will delight everyone with a unique mix of funny, original songs and stories, tongue-twisting poems, oddball characters and on-the-spot cartoon drawing.  His rhythmic piano, skillful drawing and quick wit combine for an upbeat, positive experience with lots of audience participation.  It’s a fast-paced ride, so hang on and don’t blink–you might miss something!

Please register all ages so we can reach you in case of a change in venue due to the weather *crosses fingers* and for the head count.  Non-residents are welcome to this free performance. The Munslow events are sponsored by our wonderful ‘Friends of Kimball Library’.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED FOR SUMMER PRESCHOOL CLASSES?:  We are hosting Mother Goose on the Loose on Mondays at 10:30 for babies-toddlers, Little Heroes classes for two and three-year-olds on Tuesdays at 10:30, and Superhero Story Times for ages three to six on Fridays at 10:30.  Please get your child on the roster ASAP by registering online, over the phone, or in person.  We’ll be having classes through mid-August.
