Kimball Library News 7/17/22

Dear Summer Reading Friends,

Many of you are excited to know if you have ‘WON’ the Summer Reading Challenge of meeting the goal of 200 registrations so I will dye my hair ‘ocean blue’. The challenge is open until July 30th, so on August 1, I will give the final count! I know it seems like a long time to wait, but I’m on vacation in late July, and you want to SEE the answer, right?

WE’RE HIRING: Do you thrive on interacting with people and serving your community? Can you deliver excellent customer service? Are you an avid reader, movie lover or frequent library user? The Kimball Library is looking for a person who enjoys interacting with both children and adults, is detail oriented, and has excellent communication and technology skills. This position requires: outstanding customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and electronically, ability to utilize automated circulation system and to execute circulation policies and procedures, excellent computer skills, ability to deal with multiple tasks and give friendly, respectful, helpful service to all library users. This job is for the following hours: Mon. 9:00 - 1:00 PM, one fixed evening a week from 4:30 - 8:00 PM and Saturdays in rotation from 9:00 - 3:00 PM working in both the adult and youth areas of the Library. Approximately 10 hours a week. The opportunity exists to pick up other shifts as needed. The wage is $16 per hour. This position does not carry benefits. OPINIONATED OCTOPUSES: Bring your most recent favorite reads on Tuesday, August 2nd, at 6:00 PM to Kimball Library and be part of the selection process for the 2022-2023 T/ween Book Discussion Group academic year. (Sept-June). We typically meet monthly on the first Wednesday.  This is your opportunity to bring books to pitch for reading in the upcoming year. YOUR opinion, matters! Book talk and convince us that your choices are the best.

FILM ENTHUSIAST CLUB: Are you a Cineaste (an enthusiast for or devotee of movies or filmmaking)? If so, join us for this film group. View award winning films, documentaries, foreign films and modern classics. Watch the feature film and then join the group in giving a 'thumbs up' review.
