Kimball Library News 7/3/22

Have you experienced any of our summer concerts yet? We’ve already had two and there’s more to come! We have music planned for all ages and genres. Take a peek on the calendar to see what is coming up and plan to rock out with us.

KEY OF SEA WITH STEVE BLUNT: Flap your fins & flop your tails to the Key of Sea with everyone’s favorite, Steve Blunt! Steve performs ocean-themed songs & stories guaranteed to make a splash at the Library. Big and little fish alike will be hooked by this summer reading show—with plenty of fun and upbeat songs in the key of sea.

All are ages welcome on July 13th at 6:00 PM. The show is geared for the littles to age 10, but all ages love Steve and his music. We will be in the Library Courtyard, weather permitting, so bring blankets and beach chairs if you wish, or use our built-in seating.

This is an Oceans of Possibilities summer reading event sponsored by The Friends of Kimball Library.

JUNGLE JIM: Join us in the Library Courtyard on July 20th at 6:00 PM for Jungle Jim of Boston's all-new Splash Into Reading Program! Jim's high-energy balloon show has everything you've come to expect: interactive engagement; all-ages humor; and a performance that will delight and amaze you. This show features giant ocean creature creation; routines that promote books and reading; over a dozen volunteers performing on stage with Jungle Jim; and of course, the giant 6-foot balloon!

The event is geared for children, but Jungle Jim appeals to all ages! This is an Oceans of Possibilities summer reading event sponsored by The Friends of Kimball Library.

TECH WITH JOE: Children entering grades 1-3 in the fall can learn how to program with us! SCRATCH is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. Sign up for Monday, July 18, at 4:00 PM.

Joe is also offering a separate class for grades 4-8 on Monday, July 18, at 6:00 PM. Registrants will be able to create and print one 3D design. Kids love learning from teenagers! Sign them up for this unique opportunity.

WATER WARS: T/weens (Grades 5 and up), on July 19th at 6:00 PM, this means WAR! Water wars will have a myriad of games that are fast-paced and competitive. Please dress accordingly as you will most likely get wet! Some games will be in the Library Courtyard, but  we may play some games inside, too.  Invite all your friends because party games are best with lots of peeps!

Pro tip: BRING A TOWEL and a great attitude.

SUMMER MOTHER GOOSE CAMP: Mother Goose will start a week after the other preschool camps. The first session is on Monday, July 18th at 10:30 AM. Infants through age 3 with their caregivers are invited to join us for simple stories, rhymes, finger plays, and songs modeling the Mother Goose curriculum. Check the calendar for specific dates.
