Kimball Library News 12/14/10

In the spirit of holiday gift giving, we at Kimball Library have a gift for YOU from us. E-Books will be coming to the Kimball Library in January. Therefore, all those new e-readers (Nook, iPad, Sony, Kobo) that you folks have already received or may receive for Hanukkah or Christmas will have access to e-books through www.kimballlibrary.com. Also, ancestry.com will be available starting in January. Ancestry is the world’s largest online resource for family history documents and family trees. Happy Holidays!

Just a reminder that after the holiday dust settles we are still open providing programs. The last week in December we have a myriad of events for kids and teens on vacation who can meet up with friends here at the library. Please be aware that some of these programs require registration or supplies so be sure to check out the details on our website. Also, some of the regularly scheduled activities have been altered for that that week in particular, so please check our website and calendar to be sure what you’re looking for is available.

Teen Thursdays are all new in January. Take a look at some new things that will be happening on Thursday nights for tweens and teens. Check us out and make us part of your day. We’ll be looking for you and your friends to join us. Each Thursday we have reserved a space just for the teens (grades 6-12). We need you to register for the event so if we cancel or change programs we can notify you. In general Thursdays will look like this:

*1st Thursdays – WII (ages 10 and up) This is an open time of Wii play.
*2nd Thursdays – Teen Focus (Come in to study or have the teen librarian proof your papers, listen to your presentations, or drill you with your flashcards.)
*3rd Thursdays – TAG (Teen Advisory Group) Help plan teen events and choose teen materials.
*4th Thursdays – Teen Focus (Come in to study or have the teen librarian proof your papers, listen to your presentations, or drill you with your flashcards.)

Please note that the library will be closed on both December 24 and 25. We will also have limited hours on December 31 (10am-3pm), and we will be closed again on January 1. We will be open regular hours on all other days: weekdays from 10am-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-3pm. We are closed on Sundays. Whatever holidays or traditions you are celebrating this month, we wish you the happiest ever!
