Kimball Library News 9/6/11

Tie a string on your finger to remind yourself about the Saturday Cinema coming up on September 17th at 10:30am. This is one of animation’s finest with kooky characters and tunes to hum along. Pack up the kids and scoot out if they are at least age 6 with a permission slip signed or stick around and enjoy the show for ages 5 and under. We appreciate your registrations in advance. Please bring movie snacks, candy, or bottled drinks along with pillows if the kids prefer to sack out on the floor. Make our Saturday shows part of your family traditions.

Book reading adults need to tie a string on their fingers to remember ‘A Stranger in the Kingdom by Howard Frank Mosher book discussion on Tuesday, September 20, at 6pm. Books are at the main circulation desk and there is still time to read one. Stop by for your copy today. Newbies are always welcomed.

If photography is more your thing, tie a string around your finger for ‘Dream It! Plan It! Do It!: Visiting & Photographing the National Parks’ on September 20th at 6:30PM. Ron Wybranoski will present this multi-media presentation about planning a photo trip to the National Parks. It is a step-by-step guide to setting an itinerary, researching the parks, using maps, guides, books and the web to select your route. Several useful photo and travel tips will be covered as well as how to create a wish list of specific places to visit and images to take. Besides many of the well-known parks such as Zion, Arches, the Tetons and Yellowstone, many lesser known locations such as the Wave and White Pocket in Southern Utah, Hoodoos, Escalante, Cathedral Valley in Capital Reef, White Sands and Badlands will be discussed.

Tie a string if bargains are your thing! The Friends of the Library Fall ‘Book and Bake Sale’ takes place on Saturday, September 24th. As is our custom, this is held in conjunction with the Town Wide Yard Sale from 8am-3pm. This is a great day to see friends from town and collect some items at an advantageous price as well. Bargain shoppers and browsers will enjoy a chance to look leisurely through our numerous sale books, bump into some familiar faces, and pick up some delectable goodies en route. Books will be individually priced as well as opportunities for ‘bargains by the bagful.’ Show your support by stopping by and stocking up. You won’t need a string when you enter the building to remember to pick up some baked goods or popcorn as we are pretty sure the smells wafting through the doorway will trigger your memory. Proceeds from the sale benefit the ‘Friends’ group which in turn benefits us. We thank you in advance for your patronage.
